Omantel, the national operator of Oman and the leading wholesale carrier in the Middle East, today announced the signing of the supply agreement with Xtera Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: XCOM), a leading provider of high-capacity, cost-effective optical transport solutions, for building yet another unique submarine cable to strengthen its position in the region and beyond.  The new cable will be built in partnership with Ethio Telecom, Golis Telecom and Telesom Company and will be a direct highway from Salalah in Oman to Bosaso in Puntland and Berbera in Somaliland, with a terrestrial extension to Addis Ababa in Ethiopia.

Nexans will design and produce a medium voltage high temperature superconducting (HTS) cable for AMSC (American Superconductor), including terminations and a splice, as part of its Resilient Electric Grid Project in Chicago.

Siemens has been awarded an order to supply a link between the Dutch and Danish power grids. The customers are the power grid service provider Danish Energinet.dk and its Dutch counterpart TenneT TSO. The "COBRA cable" high-voltage direct-current (HVDC) link will enhance power supply reliability in both countries and promote the integration of renewable energy sources into the power grid. Siemens will supply the two HVDC converter stations at both sides of the DC power line, which will be routed as a subsea cable through the North Sea. This cable is to be supplied by the Italian company Prysmian, one of the leading cable manufacturers worldwide. The volume of Siemens' share of the order is around EUR 170 million. The link is scheduled to take up commercial operation at the beginning of 2019.

From December 1st to December 4th within the bounds of the exhibition “Electric grids of Russia-2015” the group of companies “Systems and Technologies” presented its own working outs in the field of Smart Metering and concluded an agreement with several companies on the development of the electric power complex of the country.

A Service Level Agreement with Maillefer is in vigor at Estralin High Voltage Cable LLC in Russia. During a recent SLA visit, we gave the customer's equipment a maintenance check and gave their management a series of recommendations to improve performance. Since then, several actions have been undertaken. Estralin now requests additional support as they prepare for the upcoming bi-annual visit.

80 km of cables for general industrial use ВВГнг(А)-LS, КВВГнг(А)-LS, ПвКШПп, ПвКПг, ПуГВ and others were loaded by the group of companies “Sevcable” in October at the cosmodrome “Vostochniy”, that is built near Uglegorsk in Amur Region.

On November 6th in OJSC “Rosseti” the conclusion of a certifying commission, which broadens access of the use of high-voltage cables of the group of companies “Sevcable” with a core section up to 1200 mm2 at the objects of the company, was signed. A list of labels of the armature with which the cable of the GC “Sevcable” was allowed to be used was also added.
