    NREL publishes new report on reducing wind energy curtailment
    The US Department of Energy’s (DoE) National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) has published a new report titled “Reducing Wind Curtailment through Transmissions Expansion in a Wind Vision Future”. The report highlights the need of new transmission lines to avoid curtailment of wind energy. It has been compiled while keeping the DoE's Wind Vision report (published in March 2015) as the basis to discover how the transmission system can manage the 35 per cent of electricity being sourced by wind power.

    TMK plans to increase shipments in 2017
    In 2016, TMK shipped a total of 3,440k tonnes of tubular products, down 11.2% y-o-y. The decline was mainly due to lower welded pipe sales. Seamless pipe shipments remained almost flat y-o-y at 2,399k tonnes.

    AEI Cables owner comes under fire for not paying redundancy to staff losing their jobs
     The foreign owners of a cable factory on Tyneside (North East England) have come under fire for not paying redundancy packages to nearly 250 people who will be losing their jobs. Around 200 people are this week being made redundant at AEI Cables in Birtley , with another 40 set to go before the end of March.
