    The Prysmian Group will open two new plants in Romania and Slovakia, where it will produce telecommunications and data cables. The plants will be built as extensions on ots existing factories in Slatina, Romania and Presov, Slovakia.

    Torino Power Solutions Successfully Installs Power Line Monitoring System at Tri-State G&T, Denver, Colorado
    Torino Power Solutions Inc. (CSE: TPS) (the “Company” or “Torino”), is pleased to report that it has completed the first installation of its Power Line Monitoring (PLM) system on a 230kV line in eastern Colorado.  The installation occurred on June 20th and was carried out by Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association, Inc., (“Tri-State”) on an energized line without service interruption. Torino’s PLM technology will provide Tri-State with real-time temperature monitoring of its power line under a pilot agreement with Torino.

    Submarine Cable Would Mean Major Power Plants
    If the proposed project of connecting Iceland’s energy grid with Britain’s via a submarine cable is realized, that would require the construction of power plants in Iceland the size of two Kárahnúkar projects, or 1,400 megawattts, RÚV reports. This is the conclusion of a report written by a government task force formed to look into the feasibility of such a project. The Kárahnúkar hydroelectric power plant in East Iceland, whose construction was quite controversial, is by far Iceland’s largest.

    Microsoft and facebook might be trying to plant a submarine cable across the Atlantic, but Google has it beat when it comes to the Pacific. Granted, the FASTER cable system did start a lot earlier, almost two years ago. Now the consortium that runs the program has proudly announced that construction of the undersea cable is now done and that FASTER is ready to deliver faster Internet between Japan and the US West Coast, which, of course, also promises to improve Internet connectivity and service in neighboring states and cities.

    Prysmian Group to invest $1.9M in expansion of Abbeville electrical cable plant
    Lexington-based Prysmian Group North America, a manufacturer of electrical cables, announced today plans to invest $1.9 million in its Abbeville facility. The expansion will create five jobs, according to a press release issued by the S.C. Department of Commerce.
