"Rosatom" summed up the activities in the field of energy at the strategic session of the State Corporation: in the years 2010-2012 they succeded to save almost 9 billion rubles

"Energy Efficiency Center INTER RAO UES" , a joint venture of two largest energy companies in Russia - the State Corporation " Rosatom" and "Inter RAO " - held IV strategic session "Strategy implementation of energy conservation and energy efficiency of the State Corporation " Rosatom " . The session summarized the activities in the implementation of programs to improve energy efficiency of the nuclear industry : the total fuel and energy savings as compared to 2009 for all companies of the State Corporation "Rosatom" was 17.6 %, and the economic effect reached 8.826 billion rubles ( 30 000 dollars). Thus , the actual reduction in energy consumption over this period in the whole of the State Corporation nearly was twice more than the requirements set by  261- FZ " On Energy Saving ... ".

The event was attended by over a hundred representatives of major enterprises and organizations of the nuclear industry. Key objectives of the strategy session were summing up the implementation of the requirements of federal legislation in the field of energy saving, setting goals for the next period and the development of a common approach to further improve energy efficiency and energy saving enterprises and organizations of the State Corporation "Rosatom".

"The program of energy conservation and energy efficiency organizations in the nuclear industry for 2012-2016  sets ambitious objectives - the reduction in energy consumption by the 2016 is expected to reach 25 % compared to 2009 results. The results of this program are encouraging : the results of last year's energy savings in the whole of the State Corporation has reached almost 18 %. Improving energy efficiency helps businesses and promotion of the State Corporation "Rosatom" outside Russia . As we work on the global market, the cost reduction will have a positive impact on the development of the State Corporation "Rosatom " abroad ", - Deputy Director General for Development and International Business of the State Corporation " Rosatom " Kirill Komarov said in an address to the participants of the session.

Timothy Sumin , the head of the project " Improving energy efficiency" of the State Corporation "Rosatom " said : "In 2012 the total savings of fuel and energy resources in relation to 2009 for all companies of the State Corporation " Rosatom " was 17.6 %. The total economic impact of the implementation of activities in the period 2010-2012 amounted about 8.8 billion rubles(300  000 dollars). In 2013 the forecast total energy savings in enterprises "Rosatom " with respect to 2009 was 20% , which is equivalent to 13.27 billion rubles ( 45 000 000 dollars) . I note that the calculations are given in 2009 prices , subject to annual indexation of the real cost of energy savings exceeds these values . "

The participants recognized the need for a strategic session to adopt a number of measures aimed at further strengthening of the performance of the State Corporation "Rosatom " in the field of energy efficiency. Thus, it was decided to revise approaches to the definition of targets for energy efficiency and conservation in view of the current unrealized potential and the formation of the targets with the focus on reducing the actual costs ; ensure the application of the method of implementation of lean production system ( " Kaizen " ) in the creation and updating of the energy management system for companies "Rosatom "; motivation to create the conditions for the successful implementation of energy conservation measures and expected effects , set the mandatory introduction in the staff structure of the enterprises of the State Corporation office energy manager ; go in 2015 to a single integrated system, improve operational efficiency of the enterprises in which energy efficiency is included.

At the session the strategic solutions to improve the energy efficiency of the nuclear industry were presented by Schneider Electric, ClickSoftware, Ventyx, Grundfos, Atlas Copco, Danfoss Engineering Group "Volga", etc.
