Furukawa Electric opens USD 4.5 mln Mexico fibre plant

Cable manufacturer Furukawa Electric has inaugurated its second industrial plant in Mexico, a USD 4.5 million space specialising in the production of fibre optic cables and access strands to supply the local telecommunications market.
The new 6,000 square meter plant is located in Mexicali in Baja California and will have the capacity to manufacture up to 6,000 km of cables and 120,000 connectors a month, said the company.
