Over €135 million awarded to Horizon 2020 energy projects

INEA signed grant agreements with 14 projects selected for funding in the Smart Cities and Communities and Smart Grids and Storage topics of the 2016 Low-Carbon Energy call. They will receive in total €135 million from the EU's Horizon 2020 programme to develop new clean energy solutions.
Two projects were selected in the Smart Cities and Communities topic for the total funding of €36 million. They aim to make European cities greener and more liveable and to propose innovative solutions which can be replicated in different urban spaces around Europe.
Twelve projects were funded under the Smart Grid and Storage topics. They received in total €99 million to help modernise the European energy grid through developing solutions integrating renewable energy, new business models and retail markets.
So far in 2016, INEA has signed 43 grant agreements for Horizon 2020 energy projects worth almost €275.5 million.
