Switzerland-based Huber+Suhner has entered a five-year agreement to provide cabling for Bombardier Transportation's current and future rolling stock.

The deal has made Huber+Suhner the preferred cable supplier of Bombardier Transportation.

Under the deal, Huber+Suhner’s RADOX EN and GKW cables will be used throughout Bombardier's rolling stock. Huber+Suhner’s connectivity solutions will also be used in Bombardier's future trains and metro carriages.

Huber+Suhner low-frequency division head Patrick Riederer said: "The new agreement confirms our market position as a leading international cable provider for railway technology.

“Bombardier Transportation will install Huber+Suhner cables in the majority of new types of rolling stock and also use them in existing fleets."

Huber+Suhner won the Bombardier contract after competing in an international selection procedure.

In 2009, the companies signed their first long-term supply contract.

So far, more than 20 Bombardier train types have been equipped with Huber+Suhner cabling solutions.

The train types include Movia metros for Delhi, India; Innovia Monorail for São Paulo, Brazil; and Twindexx Swiss Express operated by Swiss Federal Railways (SBB).

Huber+Suhner serves the European market from its cable plant in Switzerland, while the company’s Chinese production facilities serve Bombardier's Asian projects.

In addition, the companies aim to collaborate in the fields of integrating fibre-optics, as well as incorporate low-frequency and wireless solutions in rolling stock and other future projects.
