NLMK has saved more than 1.2 billion rubles thanks to energy efficiency

NLMK Group, the largest steel producer in Russia and one of the most efficient steel companies in the world in 2014 has saved 437 million rubles due to the optimization of energy purchases and 800 million rubles due to projects to improve efficiency resource  and operation of power equipment.

Efficiency projects were aimed at the modernization of lighting systems at the Group, reducing energy losses in networks of steam and hot water supply, reducing repair time generating equipment, increase production of its own electricity.

Among the major projects in the energy sector  identified by NLMK Group is  launching a new 50 MW turbine generator and air separation plant at the Lipetsk site. These projects, including the plant, improved the security of its own electricity from 52% to 54% of total consumption. VIZ-Stal has started commissioning works on the installation of the steam reforming of natural gas to produce hydrogen. On Stoilensky GOK the first phase of the project to modernize the lighting was implemented.

"To achieve the level of the best available technologies, we plan in 2015 to get low-cost optimization measures and investment projects. Management efficiency and energy complex in NLMK Group in 2014 were confirmed the international experts. Representatives of the British Standards Institution (British Standards Institute, BSI) confirmed the relevant energy management systems requirements according to ISO 50001 on the Altai-Koks, Stoilensky, VIZ-Stal, NSMMZ, NLMK-HARDWARE.
