Crimea provides additional positive dynamics of the economy and energy of the country in crisis
According to the published by the System Operator of Unified Energy System (SO UES) data on production and consumption of electricity in March 2015 figures for energy zone of the South are presented in terms of isolated systems. This means that the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol became considered and reflected in official statistics and consumption data allow us to calculate the contribution of new actors in Russia's GDP. Estimated by IPEM, the contribution of the Crimean peninsula in Russia's GDP could be about 0.7%.
Comparability of data for 2014 is not yet assured, but IPEM calculations show that energy consumption in the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol in March 2015 amounted to about 0.7 billion kWh and the total electricity consumption in new subjects could exceed 7 billion kWh this year.
The data on energy consumption allows assessing the contribution of new actors in Russia's GDP. Estimated by IPEM, if the GRP electric capacity in Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol roughly corresponds to the national average number (69-70 rub / KWh), the new GRP cumulative entities in 2015 could reach about 500 billion rubles, or 0.7% of Russia's GDP.
The IPEM experts indicate that due to the impossibility of comparing data, all-Russian statistics of electricity in March 2015 looks strange: the impressive growth of 1.5% during the crisis. Removal of data on new subjects of the Russian Federation shows that the actual growth rate of no more than 1.1%, which is also quite a lot in the current economic environment. However, part of the increase was provided by lower compared to the previous year the average outdoor temperature (-1,9 ° C in March 2015, which is 1,1 ° C lower than in March 2014).
