The reconstruction works of atomized system of HPP control are being held on Sayano-Shushinskays HPP that are planned to be finished by the end of 2013. The modernized system allows automatically to get databases from more than 5000 detectors, that would improve the evaluation quality of buildings state due to the increase of operation and accuracy of the measurements.
Taking into account the unique nature of the Sayano-Shushenskaya hydroelectric power station, system of monitoring facilities was set while its design and construction not similar to any domestic hydropower installed instrumentation. The system is based on more than 11 sensors and thousands of measurement points that track the movement of the dam and its individual elements, control the temperature in different parts of the dam, the performance of filtration through the dam body and the base, and a number of other parameters.
The history of automatic control of hydraulic power plant lasts more than twenty years. The system was created in the last century, based on the given technical and regulatory databases. During this time, the unique experience of automative observations over the dam, the use of different types of sensors and measuring instruments, and the algorithms of the software were made. Now, this system provides an automated survey of more than 3,000 sensors and control equipment on a daily basis. But with the development of new measurements and automation the necessity of improving the system hardware appeared as the existing outdated physically and morally.
The project of the new system, developed by a leading research institute in the area - of "NIIES", covers the instrumentation of arch-gravity dam station, power plant building, and stilling basin. It includes automated sensors interrogation and diagnostic system of monitoring operating in the common computer network. Part of sensors and measuring points which are not involved in the operational control of the structures, don’t not need to be automated and their measurements will be tested by human.
An extra test equipment will be set during the project on the waterworks stations and the surrounding area, some legacy sensors will be replaced by modern ones. Those measuring settings that have not previously been automated will be equipped with devices to collect evidence without the direct involvement of the staff. A system of geodetic satellite measurements of displacements in the dam is realised. In addition, the modernization of the entire complex seismometric network was made, and the system of seismological observations is modernized on the adjacent territory.
The new system will be equipped with a new cable links, control and communication devices that are necessary for transmission of information and its collection in a database. One of the advantages of the system will be open automated complex, built on the principles of interoperability and standardization. This provides the possibility of its development, inclusion of additional devices as well as interchangeability of hardware and software.
