"RusVinyl" opens PVC production in the Nizhny Novgorod region in September

The company " RusVinyl ", which is a joint venture between the Russian company Sibur and Belgian SolVin, plans to enter service in the Nizhny Novgorod region complex for the production of polyvinyl chloride ( PVC) ,which cost more than 50 billion rubles ,in September this year, as the government of the region claimed.

JSC " RusVinyl " is a joint project of SIBUR and SolVin with equal shares . SolVin is a joint venture of Solvay ( Belgium) and BASF ( Germany) with shares of 75% and 25 % for creating PVC production in Europe. " RusVinyl " has a regional priority status of the project included in the development strategy of the chemical and petrochemical industry of the Russian Federation until 2015.

Construction of the complex began on July 12 , 2010. Previously reported plans confirmed to introduce this production into operation in the fourth quarter of 2014. However, during the meeting of Nizhny Novgorod Governor Valery Shantsev with the company Solvay, held within the Days of Nizhny Novgorod Region in Belgium and Luxembourg , it was decided to open a plant in September. Nizhny Novgorod delegation 's visit took place on April 2-4 .

"We have reached an agreement on the completion of the project of JSC " RusVinyl ".  The production of PVC Kstovo should be commissioned in September this year < ... > At the moment the process is setting up the equipment , "- said Shantsev , RIA Novosti reported .

Plant's production capacity will be 330 tons of PVC and 235,000 tons of caustic soda per year. Semi-finished product , which will be produced at this facility , will need approximately 20 industries . Moreover , the introduction of the Nizhny Novgorod region plant producing of PVC increases gross regional product by 10% immediately and allow Russia to completely abandon the import of this product.

Moreover , according to the governor , during the meeting the development of new projects will take place ,including a project for the production of surfactants . «We agreed that by the end of the year concept design of this project will be finished. Volumes will be comparable with that project, as we are implementing now , "- Shantsev said .
