At the 220 kV Mogocha substation, the branch of JSC " FGC UES " (included in the group of companies of " Rossetti ") - Trunk Power Grids ( MEA ) of Siberia - in the period from December 2013 to March 2014 , the installation and testing of equipment STATCOM -1 was performed: Cooling System of voltage converter , filter- , battery static capacitors , voltage converter .

During the previous quarter specialists of JSC " FGC UES SEC " together with the Trans-Baikal PMES ECMC Siberia and the Trans-Baikal RDU has worked not only on the installation of innovative equipment , but also developed and coordinated program of testing and commissioning of equipment STATCOM .

An important outcome of this work was held in the period from 28 to 30 March –the first  test of STATCOM operating voltage for 72 hours. Thus, the operation has successfully tested the innovative equipment .
The Insert of the DC -based STATCOM technology is designed to convert AC to DC and then converting the DC to AC . It consists of four blocks, each of which includes a voltage converter, a capacitor bank, three-phase group phase reactor cooling system , control cabinets , etc. The advantage of the control system is the use the new equipment in the principle of " triple redundancy " - triple redundant signaling is used , for example, in aviation and aerospace . This ensures high reliability protect equipment from damage.
Earlier in the fall the commissioning of complete switchgear gas-insulated switchgear (GIS ) 220 kV, mounted in the framework of this project and designed for power distribution power transmission lines to consumers were completed at the substation. And now on the 220 kV substation equipment installations Mogocha STATCOM -2 is completed and is in full swing preparing for his trial.

Mogocha substation with installed capacity of 282 MVA was built in 1987. It provides electricity traction substations for the Trans-Siberian Railway, as well as feeds for Mogocha .
